Bone broth is simple, nutritious, sustainable, and one of the original no-waste recipes. It was created when hunting and farming meat was commonplace for communities, and was a way to get as much flavor and nutrients as possible out of the animal bones—and ensure nothing went to waste. The longer cooking time distinguishes it from stock, and the longer it cooks, the thicker the gelatin (which comes from the animal bones) becomes. Bone broth is known for being a source of protein and collagen and also contains calcium, magnesium, and potassium, which may help build bone strength. Yes, you can make it yourself, but brands like Bonafide Provisions make it easy to enjoy on a regular basis and use the same wholesome ingredients you would in your own kitchen.

The History of Bonafide Provisions

Bonafide Provisions was founded in 2011 by clinical nutritionist, Sharon Brown, and her husband, chef Reb Brown, but the brand’s story started years earlier. In 2006, Sharon was a young mother navigating her son’s health issues that included ear, sinus, and respiratory infections. In searching for solutions, she discovered research on the benefits of bone broth and began incorporating it into their meals.
